The salutation and the complimentary close must match.

The date must be written in full not abbreviated. The present trend is to simplify the writing of the date by omitting st, nd, rd, th after the day. Note that American English uses the order month, day, year for the abbreviated and full forms; in British usage the order is day, month, year for the abbreviated form whereas the full form can be written either way ()
